MORMONISM is the name given to the belief system of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. 
  
The Saints - members of the Church - were called 'Mormons' from the beginning of the Church because of their belief in the Book of Mormon as the Word of God alongside the Holy Bible.  
  
  
Mormons are Christians who believe that Jesus Christ:
  
  
Is the literal Son of God the Father
He was born to the Virgin Mary
He revealed himself as the Messiah
He taught men a new way that transcended the Mosaic Law
He called a college of twelve Apostles as special witnesses of his Deity
He submitted to being sacrificed for the sins of the world
He was crucified at Golgotha
He redeemed us by the shedding of his blood
He was buried, but rose as a living glorified being after three days
He gave infallible proof of his literal physical resurrection
He ascended to heaven
He sits enthroned at the right hand of his Father in the heavens
